Can You (Still) Make Over $10,000 per Month Blogging?
Back when I decided to quit my 9 to 5 and become a professional blogger (without really knowing that there is such a thing as “professional blogger“) I was sure that I’d be making at least $10,000 per month after just a few weeks of “writing something on my blog”. I was that naive, with my head filled with get rich quickly schemes that are nothing but bogus.
I must admit that I am amused to see how inexperienced I was as a professional blogger just two years ago: just reading my early articles on this blog, I found out that I put a monthly cap on what a new blog can make per month – $200 and this again makes me chuckle. Also looking at my income reports back then I realize that I was pretty far away from meeting my goal of making at least $10,000 per month from blogging.
Have things changed? Can a person still make over $10,000 per month blogging?
Of course! And before we get more into this, let me show you the proof, because “pic or it didn’t happen,” right?:
To compare things, back in December 2011 I was making $1,500 per month with 732.00 EUR / $954 from AdSense. Just 15 months later, AdSense only was at 9,923 EUR or about $13,000. What happened in these 15 months?
Knowledge started to pay off
You see, even back then at the end of 2011, with three years of blogging on my shoulders, I still didn’t knew much: I was pretty ignorant, I was not open to changes, to learning, to advice from great people that were making the big money. If you don’t follow the advice of those already making big money, you will probably fail to do it.
The truth is that making a lot of money blogging – even over $10,000 per month is pretty easy. But not many get there because it requires a few things:
- never give up
- be consistent and persistent
- keep learning and trying new things
At the end of 2011 I was stuck in a loophole, accepting the mediocrity of my few niche websites and dreaming that someday I would be making it big. Which, if I were to continue on that road, was not going to happen ever because I was not taking action. I was dreaming instead of DOING. That was my biggest problem and probably it’s your problem too if you are reading this article. You should not be reading this article, but instead you should be working on your goals.
Just joking – this plans to be a pretty motivational article on how to make more money blogging and I plan at turning Uniblogsity into the place to visit for the people who are in your situation and want to make it big. So you’re at the right place!
Back to making the $10,000 per month: I decided to take action. I decided to stop working on websites that were not producing anything, take the loss and move on. I was not going to quit blogging, I was going to try something new because, no matter how good you are as a blogger, you sometimes fail. There’s nothing wrong with that.
What happened after I decided to change the course of action and switch from niche sites to authority websites? Things picked off. I started to make money. I started to bring in the visitors because I was more open minded and put to good use all the knowledge that I had earned reading blogging tips from the big names out there. Where did it took me? Well, look at that image at the beginning of the article and you will see!
My decision to take action and to start making money blogging had me build a great website that got 1 million unique visitors in one month, ended up on the radar of a big company who made me an offer and I was happy to sell.
People might be surprised to hear that after trying for 5 years to make it big in the blogging world and finally succeeding to get past the $10,000 in income per month I decided to sell that blog. Why would I do that? Because I was proven that I CAN and President Obama was not there to whisper it into my ear. I can build such a blog and I am planning to build something even better and bigger (I can’t do it in the same niche because of a non compete, but there are so many niches out there that can make you money).
The best part? I plan on sharing everything with you right here at Uniblogsity. I have a few projects that I want to start, from building an authority website to trying my hand once again at niche blogging and I want to share the results, the tips, the trip and everything in between with you and hopefully help you achieve the same success.
