How to Get Your Blog Indexed By Google Faster (in a Few Hours!)

Submitted by on November 10, 2011 – 10:29 AM6 Comments | 193 views

Organic traffic (traffic sent to your blog by the search engines) is the most important and sought-after type of traffic for a blog and obviously you can’t get this organic traffic unless you are indexed by the major search engines. Google is the biggest and most used search engine on the market, so your main goal should be to get indexed by Google as fast as possible in order to start receiving visitors. In other words, if you can’t be found on Google, you don’t exist!

Even though Google usually manages to get a new blog indexed as fast as a couple of days, there are some easy and free ways to get your blog indexed by Google faster – and even get your blog on Google in just a few hours after launch! I am here to share with you these tips that will help your blog take off faster by getting indexed quicker by Google:

1. Content

Although Google might index blogs that only have one or a couple of pages, it is better if you have at least three pages of content on your blog to make sure that Google actually indexes it – five 5 pages being considered the safe number. When launching a new blog I immediately write the Privacy Policy (a must have if you are going to serve Google Adsense ads), the Contact page and the About us page. Add to that an intro post to your blog and you already have 4 content pages for Google to love!

2. Google XML Sitemaps

One of the vital plugins that your WordPress blog should have, the Google XML Sitemaps plugins pings Google (and the other major search engines) every time you post new content. Activate this plug-in immediately after launching your blog and it will start telling Google that there’s a brand new blog on the internet!

3. Google Webmaster Tools

Set up your Webmaster Tools account (if you don’t have one already) and add the new blog there: make sure that you tell Google about your sitemap (created with the plugin above) and it will increase the chances of getting indexed ASAP.

4. Website valuation tools

Although these websites provide inaccurate numbers regarding the actual value of a website, they do provide link backs which are extremely valuable early on since Google will notice these links and visit your site and index it. So simply check your blog “value” on any of the following sites (or all of them, to be sure) and you’ll get indexed by Google faster: WebWorth, Cubestat, QuarkBase, Builtwith, Aboutthedomain

5. Social network submission

Even though most of the social networks out there have their links set to nofollow (or don’t directly link to your blog), there are many experts who say that submitting to them will make Google like you more and at least index your blog faster. It might not be true, but its still worth doing, so make sure that you submit your site to Digg, Facebook or Reddit for starters.

6. Link from another blog

If you have another blog, link to your new blog – writing a post about it or finding a way to insert the link into a new post (that Google will index quickly) works great. Basically, getting one link (or a few) early on will let Google know that you are there and will get your blog indexed faster.

Using these methods COMBINED will guarantee that your blog will be indexed by Google as fast as possible – maybe even in a few hours. However, from here to making your blog popular will still be a long, tough job, but at least you know you started it right!
